About Us
Design to Recover first opened in July 2017 with a single location, but quickly rose to prominence in the sober living Los Angeles community.We quickly grew to become a nationally renowned sober community in Southern California and what many consider the best sober living in Los Angeles. We offer people a safe place to live at one of our sober living housing facilities, as well as job and life skills to help graduates transition back into society. Beginning with a single location, we have expanded rapidly to meet the needs of those who wanted what graduates of Design to Recover experienced. We offer several options, Men-only homes as well as women-only homes, we have one location that is co-ed. Mostly we make the co-ed location available as a sober living for couples option. We offer a pet friendly sober living house at one of our homes, for people with pets that are considered safe to be around other people, making us one of the only Los Angeles sober living facilities that allow pets. Structured Sober Living Homes

Our sober living homes and/or apartments help you regain connection to other peers on the road to recovery and improve your odds of long term sobriety tremendously. We offer both Men-only and Women-only options. We have several locations, Playa Vista sober living, Down Town Los Angeles sober living, Venice sober living, West Los Angeles IOP and more.

Design for Recovery Emphasizes One-On-One Mentoring as a Crucial Aspect of Recovery.

Intensive Outpatient Programs

Our IOP Program in Los Angeles provides a comprehensive approach to behavioral health recovery, seamlessly blending the intensity of residential programs with the flexibility of outpatient care.

Medical Assisted Detox

Our medical detox program for drug and/or alcohol addiction helps patients safely manage the acute physical symptoms of drug withdrawal. Medication often times is prescribed and patients are medically monitored by medical staff.

PHP / Inpatient Rehab

Partial Hospitalization, also known as PHP (partial hospitalization program), is a type of program used to treat mental illness, addiction, or other serious psychological issues. In partial hospitalization, the patient continues to reside at a sober living home, but commutes to a treatment center up to seven days a week. Partial hospitalization focuses on the overall treatment of the individual and is intended to avert or reduce in-patient hospitalization.

What is sober living, and how is it different from drug and alcohol rehab?

Sober living is a residential environment that provides structure and support for individuals transitioning from addiction treatment back to everyday life. Unlike rehab, which is typically an intensive treatment program, sober living homes provide a safe, drug-free space where residents can practice living sober while maintaining greater independence.

Are meals provided in our sober living homes?

Yes meals are provided! Trips to the grocery store happen weekly also incase clients have special dietary needs or wants and prefer to ​prepare their own meals at times. ​Large stocked kitchen available 24 hours a day to clients.

What is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?


PHP is a more structured program than IOP, often serving as a step-down from inpatient rehab. Clients attend treatment sessions for several hours each day, typically five days a week, but return to sober living or their home at night. PHP offers intensive therapy and medical care while allowing more flexibility than residential treatment.

Can I Receive Drug and Alcohol Rehab Services Here?

Yes, most clients tend to do some sort of program before, during or both while in sober living. We offer a wide range of services such as intensive outpatient rehab, medical detox services in los angeles county, financial management classes (free of charge for tenants), partial hospitalization rehab, we also have one Half-Way house location in central Los Angeles.

What is Intensive Outpatient (IOP) treatment?

Intensive Outpatient (IOP) is a treatment program designed for individuals who need ongoing support but do not require 24/7 residential care. It typically involves several hours of therapy and counseling multiple days a week, allowing individuals to live at home or in sober living while receiving treatment.

Do you conduct random drug tests in sober living?

Yes, random drug testing is a standard part of sober living to ensure accountability and maintain a drug-free environment. Tests are usually conducted twice a week at randomized intervals.

What type of support is available for co-occurring mental health issues?

Our sober living homes offer dual-diagnosis treatment if needed, which addresses both substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and/or PTSD.

What is medical detox, and who needs it?

Medical detox is the process of safely managing your withdrawal symptoms as your body eliminates drugs or alcohol. Our team of medical certified doctors and technicians will determine in an initial interview process if this is necessary or not. It’s essential in many cases because it ensures you go through this difficult phase with medical supervision, reducing risks and ensuring comfort. We provide medical detox if needed, as the first step to your recovery journey.

What is the cost of sober living?

The cost of sober living varies depending on the level of care and amenities offered. Our team can provide specific pricing details and discuss payment options, including insurance coverage for certain services. We pride ourselves in offering an affordable and safe option in one of the premier neighborhoods of Los Angeles.

Can I bring my pet to sober living?

Our recovery program and sober homes are known locally as being a great option for patients with pets. We now have several other homes and locations available and in most cases, we do allow pets, but this also depends on the type of pet. Please check with us about our pet policy to ensure your animal is welcome before moving in.
